DAY 1 – MFT’s Meet me at the Cafe October 22, 2007

Filed under: my favorite things — mjalbright @ 8:30 am

Here we go!  I’ve been MFT’d (pronouncedmifted”) as I have been saying to myself since I received these stamp sets.  I discovered My Favorite Things via SCS posts/gallery.  I have read all the comments.  I have made the decision to give these stamp sets a try.  All cards in todays post were created with stamp set Meet me at the Cafe.

mft-let’s do lunch  Can you say Ooh La La!…LOL

This is my favorite.  So dimensional and realistic from the poodle on the sidewalk to the glare/details of the window.  I decided to split the main image to create a more cafe appearance.

                                    mft-let’s do lunch-window details

The main image was stamped on Shimmery White CS.  I added some details to the window:  glare with Bashful Blue ink and a White Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen; “Cafe” and swirls done with Black EP and then restamped over with Whisper White Craft ink; Window edging created with strips of Confetti White CS stamped with Weathered BG stamp and edges sponged.

mft-let’s do lunch-tag details

The awning was first stamped on Old Olive CS to create a base and the bottom edging.  I then restamped once on the white Fall Flowers DSP, and again on the Soft Sky Fall Flowers DSP.  I sponged some of the edges to create the shadowing then adhered to the base Old Olive piece.  Added 3 small circles to the tag that coordinate with the awning pattern.

This next card turned out very elegant with a formal appearance.

mft-good times

This was the first card I made with this set.  I wanted it to have dark rich colors and a “sexy look” to it.  Let’s face it, while working with these images, I felt like I needed to go on a diet…LOL.  I found the PP at my local Michael’s craft store.  It is called Black French made by Paper Pizazz….It is a light blackish-gray paper with french script and I colored some of the wording in with the colors I used in the main image.  Added scalloping to the bottom with ribbons to divide card and leave a space for sentiment at the bottom.

I dazzled up the awning by adding some black fringe to the bottom of it with Basic Black CS with VERY THIN cuts to it.  I also paper-pierced the black edging that borders the main image.

Lastly, can you say fun?  How cute is this?  I wanted to make a bright festive card that wasn’t wide with the whole image in it.

mft-chill of winter   I love this card.  It has the appearance of having a tag inside, but it doesn’t.  The base is a piece of Real Red Textured CS measuring 3-1/4″ X 6-1/2″.  A layer of Dashing DSP measuring 3-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ & a half circle punched out of top using 1-3/8″ Circle Punch was then adhered to the Real Red CS piece.  Added a strip of ribbon with two buttons stacked on top of one another to the top.  After creating this, I thought that it could be either an ornament or on some sort of garland (or just a card with wording written on the back).  Can’t see in pic, but added a stamped swirl to bottom right of card from Priceless stamp set.

And the window, love it!  It was created with a transparency sheet & panes created with a black Slick Writer.  Added DecoArt Snow-Tex and Dazzling Diamonds for the snow.  For this awning, I had to stamp several times the different sections so I could have the lines within the Dashing DSP to go the way I wanted them to go.

The sentiment was created with a Scallop Punch and Coluzzle.  The first two layers are scallop punched Confetti Cream and Old Olive CS.  I paper-pierced each scallop and added Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds, and a button to balance with the top of the card.  The sentiment created with Black EP.
