garden whimsy surprise November 9, 2007

Here we go!  Another Friday, and that means it is time for Beate’s wsc#27

I went into this sketch with my mind made up that I would not do anything for the holidays.  I also wanted to make a card for my daughter.  She is my “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” judge and she’s always honest with me (when it comes to my cards)…LOL.  She hangs out with me when I’m creating, so it felt good to make a card with her as my inspiration.

Bright, fun, whimsical, and beautiful — perfect for a girl.  This card took me 2 DAYS TO MAKE (scroll down for more pics).

I wanted “bling” all over this card.  There are plenty of Stickles & iridescent Swarovski Crystals covering many elements.

I also wanted some “see-through” features, so there are punched circles with acetate covered with Stickles to the wings. the pop-up elements on the inside, and the scalloped matting behind the main image piece.

It’s just easier for me to show some pics with highlights for this card.

Here is the inside of the card.  I LOVE POP-UP BOOKS and reading them to my children.   I wanted to incorporate this feature on this card:

garden whimsy surprise inside - wsc27You must be patient and determined when trying to do this.  I had to study one of my books to see how I could make these butterflies pop-out when opened.  It’s hard to see in the pic, but there are 4 butterflies that are flying right off the card.  I added scattered rhinestone brads with a trail of stickles from every butterfly.  And the sentiment, perfect for my girl!

Very fun card that I won’t attempt again, and I hope my daughter keeps it forever (maybe she’ll just let me display it in my crafting area).    I can’t really give the directions how to make the inside….I just recommend studying/taking apart a pop-up book if this is something you are interested in.

I can’t wait to see what Charmaine, Jenn, Laurie, Lori, and Sharon create this week.  Head on over to these blogs to see their creations.

I work this weekend nightshift, so I will be distant.  What’s in store for next week?  Well, I got my first Thomas Kinkade stamp.  Throw a Stamping Bella in the mix.  Stampin’ Up! is a must!!!  And, can’t forget my new sets from My Favorite Things.  Busy!  Busy!

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND:)
