I wanted to make my daughter a Christmas card that would bring a smile to her face….and sorta make me feel cool!  I invisioned a bright, wild, and busy card for Morgan.  Using Beate’s wsc107, I got to work and created this card for her:

If you have a teen around, you probably know the language and can relate to the sentiment.   Makes no sense to me.  I just get a silly look from Morgan when I try to speak her language.  Honestly, I feel a bit silly too….I’ll just stick to putting the sentiments on greetings  for her.

To create my sentiment, I used Calendar Alphabet & Numbers and Grateful Greetings stamp sets on Whisper White cardstock. 

The sketch has a flower at this location.  I made this a circular focal point with some fun elements that I know Morgan will enjoy looking at.

Happy Friday.  Today I have two cards to share.  I KNOW!!!!  I got to do some stamping Thursday morning.  I liked the sketch so much that I decided to make a Thanksgiving and Christmas greeting.

These cards are made for Beate’s wsc105.  Hope you can play along this weekend.

I love the elegance of this card.  I already know the perfect recipient for it.  I used Stampin’ Up!’s Serene Snowflakes stamp set on Bella Bleu Designer Series Paper.  I used Holiday Best Hostess Level I stamp set for the main sentiment/image.  These combinations work so well together.

For the focal point, I used a chipboard circle covered in dsp and sanded edges using my sanding block.  I applied Sahara Sand ink to the image and used a Chocolate Chip marker to color in the bird.  I stamped this on Very Vanilla cardstock and punched out using my 1-3/4″ Circle Punch.  I inked up the image again in Sahara Sand ink and stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Restamped over the image with the Champagne Shimmer Paint.  Stamped a final time using Not Quite Navy ink and cut out just the “Merry Christmas” sentiment box.  Cut out my banner sentiment tag and adhered with Mini Glue Dots and a Mini Library Clip. 

The above picture is an upclose to show you just how elegant the Shimmer Paints are (and a must have in my opinion).  This is the first opportunity I have had to play with the paints.  I had so much fun…and added a touch of shimmers to my hands, face, and clothes:)  Don’t worry!  It’s subtle and cleans up so nicely.

The next card is for Thanksgiving.  I can honestly say that I don’t send out handmade greetings for this holiday…I would if I hosted our family dinner at our home.    So, my thoughts are that it’s always good to have a “Give Thanks” card on hand.

The colors of this card are just so warming and beautiful together.  I changed it up a bit by adding a squared frame to my circle main focal point.  Using the same stamp set I used in my Merry Christmas card,  Holiday Best Hostess Level I stamp set, I got a totally different style…but just as nice.

I used a Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, and Taken With Teal marker to create my sentiment on Very Vanilla cardstock.  I sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip ink.  I adhered this punched out circle to a piece of patterned paper from Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper.  I simply could have layered this piece onto a larger piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock, but I wanted a frame.  So, using a 1/2″ larger in size piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock, I paper-pierced and used an exacto knife to cut out…making my frame (just adds the right amount of dimension to my focal point). 

Above is un upclose picture of the bottom of my “Give Thanks” card.  I continued the theme from the main sentiment focal point to the bottom of the card for balance.

Happy Friday.  Boy, it’s been a while since I logged on to my blog.  Glad to report that I finished my dayshift training and I’m back to my normal nightshift routine.  One of the Nurses who precepted me was soooo kind and supportive…..I had to make something for her:)  She mentioned to me that she drinks a glass of chocolate milk every single morning.  I took that statement and got to stamping yesterday.

It felt so nice to walk into my stamping studio.  Isn’t it fun to stamp with no deadlines, and just for the simple reason of creating something handmade for someone?  It was just what I needed after three weeks of no stamping.

This is  Beate’s wsc104  flipped from vertical to horizontal layout.  It just worked better for me so I could have a little chocolate surprise inside of the card.  The card base is Real Red with a layer of Chocolate Chip, and a little scalloped strip created from a Treat Box and my scallop edge punch.  Added some Real Red Polka-dot Grosgrain ribbon.  Difficult to see, but there is Crystal Effects to the stamped chocolate image and to the outer Creamy Caramel circle.

Here is what I came up with for a daily chocolate milk drinker.  Using two Treat Boxes, I adhered them together, created a center handle, and embellished to coordinate with my card.

I think this turned out super cute.  Who wouldn’t love some chocolate syrup packaged ever so nicely?  It’s almost too cute to use in my opinion:)

sideview of chocolate syrup holder.  I created a base box out of Textured Real Red cardstock for extra stability.  This box is so sturdy with no bowing of the bottom (these two syrup bottles are heavy together). 

I added a simple chipboard tag.  I punched a 1-3/4″ circle out of the same box to continue the pattern to the tag.  I applied Real Red Craft ink to the “4u” chipboard pieces and attached to tag base using Crystal Effects as my adhesive.

Like everyone else, I’ve been busy with life.  I made a major decision a couple weeks ago to leave my current nursing specialty of Cardio-Thoracic post-op.  My last day on the unit is tomorrow.  I’m not sad to leave.   Believe me, it is a high stress environment…..and I’m making a change for the better.  Monday I start a different nursing specialty that will definitely be less stressful.  Due to three weeks of fulltime dayshift training, I will not be stamping.  I have to find my “new life schedule” and how stamping is going to fit into it. 

So, with all of that going on, I decided to make a special card for my Nurse Manager of my unit that I’m leaving.  The sentiment says it all:)

I really like how this card turned out.  Maybe I should give it to my new Nurse Manager if you know what I mean lol.  Nothing wrong with pampering the boss with handmade greetings right? 

The butterflies and flowers are from the stamp set For All You Do.  The sentiment is from the stamp set Flight of the Butterfly.  I stamped the butterflies a couple times in different colors.  I cut out the main butterfly shapes and then adhered the bodies in alternate coordinating colors.

Isn’t that turkey cute?  So many great things about this card.  The first is that it only took me about 30 minutes to make:)   Second, the stamp with sentiment only costs $6.95….yippee!  This image/sentiment stamp is called Gobble, Gobble (116535) and is in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  Third, the papers, Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper, are so beautiful with a nice assortment of designs and beautiful fall colors.

I stamped the turkey image multiple times in different colors of ink.  I cut out and layered the different stamped pieces to give more dimension to the turkey.   I could have made this card in about 10 minutes if I would have skipped this step (glad I layered…he looks great with all of the multiple colors and layers).

Happy Friday stampers.  It’s time for another one of Beate’s weekend sketch challenges.  You can see Beate’s sketch HERE if you want to play along this weekend.

For this card, I used Stampin’ Up!’s Scary Skeleton stamp set.  I stamped the image in versamark on Basic Black cardstock.  Applied White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Heat to set with Heat Tool.  Colored in with White uniball signo gelpen. 

I repeated the above process twice so I could cut out only the head and adhere with a Stampin’ Dimensional. 

I didn’t want the Basic Black cardstock main image piece to be as large as the skeleton image.  It was just too much for the cardfront.  I left the feet of the skeleton by cutting out around them to match up with my rectangular size.  I added paper piercing around the basic black main image rectangle.  To add some Pumpkin Pie color to all of the black and white, I used my Color Spritzer Tool just to add a subtle splash of color.

If you look closely, you can see that I colored in some of the white circles to the Night & Day Designer Series Paper.  I also used my Sanding Block to distress the paper.  The sentiment tag has a couple layers:  base created with Night & Day DSP and Matchbox bigz xl die; second layer created with a window sheet from Night & Day DSP and Matchbox bigz xl die; top layer has the stamped sentiment on Whisper White cardstock and punched out with my Small Oval Punch.  Added two black brads and attached to card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I also added Pumpkin Pie ink to Whisper White Organza Ribbon.

Another Friday is here already!  Today I bring you something totally different.  I NEVER post scrapbook pages.  All of the pages I make end up at Stampin’ Up! and I am left with nothing to share.  Things are going to change!  Can I just say that I’M IN LOVE WITH “MY DIGITAL STUDIO” by Stampin’ Up!…. available for purchase on OCTOBER 1ST.  I wasn’t so sure at first, but after going to Convention and seeing Brent’s Presentation….well, I was sold almost instantly lol! 

For Beate’s wsc#97, I thought I’d play around with the software.  Let me tell you, I sat in my living room with my family, created this page in 1hr (I think that is good timing for the first time), much fun, and I had NO MESS to clean up when I was finished.  WHOO HOO! 

Last weekend we headed off to Ocean City, Maryland to enjoy some beach time over the long holiday weekend.  The kids had a blast as you can see.  Just put two teens at the beach and their faces light up and they instantly “get along” (that isn’t always the case day to day).   Mike & Morgan both watched me create this page….and they both let out a “WHAT?”  when they read the main sentiment.  They proceeded with, “YEAH RIGHT!  THAT’S SO NOT TRUE!”.  I told them that the picture reveals that they do actually have fun together:)

I’ve had this oh so cute Chic Boutique stamp set for about 2 months now and haven’t used it.  I thought I’d give it a try this weekend.  I really like the images in the set.   Very oh la la-ish!

The images were stamped on Watercolor paper and Kaleidoscope DSP in Jet Black Stazon Ink.  Used Circle Scissor Plus tool to cut out my circle.  Using Mat Pack, I added some piercings throughout the theme of the card.  I had to add buttons…it seems only appropriate to coordinate with the stamped images.   And that sentiment!  Gotta love those words.

Oh my! I’m so late with this post. With my daughter getting braces on Friday morning and back to school shopping, I had to postpone blogging for a couple days. I’m sure many of you can relate to a teen trying to prepare herself for returning to highschool.

I do love the images from Stampin’ Up!’s Lots of Bots stamp set.  I think they are just too cute.   They look like they are from the movie Robots (just one of many favorite kid movies). 

Lovin’ the face of this robot, but not wanting him to have an icepack on his head, I changed him up a bit so I could give this handmade greeting as a “hello human card” and not a “get well soon card”. 

To create my sentiment, i used the “hello” from Hello Again stamp set, and “human” from Lots of Bots stamp set.  The striped paper is from Storybook Specialty Designer Series Paper.

This is a rather small greeting that measures in at 4″.  But the image is rather small so it works out nicely.   I used watercolor paper, Stazon ink, and Going Gray Classic Stampin’ Pad with an Aqua Painter for the main image.  I used Masking Tape to the icepack on the robots head for omitting.  Used Stamp-a-ma-jig Tool to properly place the “nuts and bolts” piece to his forehead. 

Hope you enjoy this little robot as well:)  He’s irresistable!
