Beate’s weekend sketch challenge #61 October 10, 2008

Happy Friday everyone!  Have some free time to stamp this weekend?  How about trying Beate’s wsc.   Todays sketch is a fun one.  I just love circles.

This card took longer than expected.  I am missing some of my supplies and I point the finger right at my son Ethan.  I let him play with punches to keep him involved, but now he wants to explore with more than what I provide & he sneaks around very mischievously to get what he wants.  I started this card yesterday morning.  I discovered that one of the stamps from the set is missing (just the rubber image…he left the block behind).  My Crafters’ Tool Kit is nowhere to be found lol.  And lastly, I saved the left over rubber sheet from this die cut set to show customers…..I found it stuck to the wall.  So, started in the morning and finished at 2 am because I searched high and low for my items.

About the card, I always tend to go crazy when working with flowers.  I wanted a cluster to the bottom right circle of the sketch.  The sentiment was created with rub-ons.

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I also added this to the inside of the card to coordinate with the outside sentiment:

Check out the sites of these very talented stampers to get more ideas for the sketch:

Cambria Turnbow, Charmaine Ikach, Jenn Balcer, Laurie Schmidlin, Lori Craig, and Sharon Harnist.

My presentation with focus on how to add “those little special touches & wow features” to your creations and info regarding Stampin’ Up! contest entries.

Here are some deets that Janet posted on her site if you are interested in attending *wink*:

Beate’s weekend sketch challenge #60 October 3, 2008

I am extremely happy to see this day!  Crazy week and I just plan on relaxing after I do some running around town to complete some last minute stamp camp stuff for tomorrow’s World Card Making Day event.

Friday also means it is time for Beate’s wsc.  #60 that is!  With very limited time this week, I’m keepin’ it simple today and showing you a card that is fairly quick but I think has some cute little details.

I attached the Hodgepodge Hardware oval frame with ribbon and added some silver coordinating brads for balance.  I love how the ribbon is Kiwi Kiss on one side and Very Vanilla on the reverse side…now that’s coordination:)  I re-stamped the flower image again in Baja Breeze ink, cut out, and adhered to some of the flowers just to add a little dimension to the main focal point.  If you eliminate that step, this is a 10 minute card.

Check out more samples from these amazing stampers:)

Cambria Turnbow, Charmaine Ikach, Jenn Balcer, Laurie Schmidlin, Lori Craig, and Sharon Harnist.

ALL SUPPLIES STAMPIN’ UP!

Just a little note to try to answer some emails……There will be a Scallop Edge Punch Tutorial posted on scs in mid November showing you how to get those rounded corners.  Keep playing with the punch though:)

Thanks for stopping by and have a happy weekend.

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #35 October 1, 2008

Here is my card that I made for Taylor’s cupcake challenge.  You don’t have to use cupcakes to participate in the challenges:)  I decided to go Christmas with this one as I have to get started here soon making holiday cards.

I really like this one!  The simplicity of the Kraft cardstock really makes the Riding Hood Red stand out.  And there are so many possibilities with the center stamped image.

Check out what the rest of the cupcake crew has created with this sketch:

Jami Sibley, Monika Davis, Sherrie Siemens, Ana Wohlfahrt, Vicki Chrisman, and Stephanie Hargis.

Last Fridays featured cupcake sampler was Frances blogging at Stamp Owl’s Studio…make sure you check out her creation…she does amazing work!

Beate’s wsc #59 October 1, 2008

Oh yes!!  I’m really late with everything this week lol.  The list of things “to do” is so long but this is a happy place and I won’t bore you all with that:)

This is my card for Beate’s wsc #59:

I wanted to use Stampin’ Up!’s Pick a Petal stamp set that I’ve neglected to use for quite some time.  Dusted it off and inked it up a little.  I wanted to use all of the same petals but wanted a simple sentiment to flow with the design of the card.  I used part of one of the petals…the one that is a flower outline with the word “smile” in it, just to follow the pattern of a petal used.   Added some white dots to the patterned paper to coordinate with the stamped petals.  To emphasize a circle to the bottom right corner of the card like the sketch, I decided to pierce some holes in a circular pattern to draw your eye to the flower focal point.

Check out the sites of these extremely talented stampers for more wsc samples:

Cambria Turnbow, Charmaine Ikach, Jenn Balcer, Laurie Schmidlin, Lori Craig, and Sharon Harnist.

A WINNER, MORE CANDY, A CARD…OH MY! September 18, 2008

My word…I never expected such a response lol.  All those comments.  You all are truly amazing and I thank you for visiting my site.  I LOVE MY BLOG.  I hope you enjoy stopping by, and want to inspire you in some way.  So, I have MORE CANDY TO GIVE AWAY to continue to show how much I appreciate my visitors.

First, the winner of the build-a-brads and ribbon goes to:

#188 Kim states“WOW!! Congrats on all of the hits. What great blog candy!! What a cute card too! I have a card that I made last week that I can’t wait to getting around to post!”   Please email me your address and I will get these goodies out to you.

Second, MORE BLOG CANDY:)  Again, leave a comment and I will draw a winner on Saturday Sunday am (at some point).  This is a Stampin’ Up! Retired Hostess set with an appropriate name of “Cause for Celebration”.

Third, a couple days ago I mentioned that I was going to make a card for my Mom.  I opted not to go with the butterflies because it was just too whimsy for the kind of card I wanted to give her.  I tried the “striped wipe technique” ~~you can view a tutorial at splitcoaststampers.

I also decorated the inside of the envelope to coordinate with the card front.  The faux-stitching to a piece of chocolate chip cardstock was placed to match the ribbon on the card front…..love it!!!

I will be back tomorrow morning with my sketch posts and a really cool project:)  Again, I appreciate all the comments.  I read them all.  {{{hugs}}}  Good luck on “Phase 2″ giveaway.
