A WINNER, MORE CANDY, A CARD…OH MY! September 18, 2008

My word…I never expected such a response lol.  All those comments.  You all are truly amazing and I thank you for visiting my site.  I LOVE MY BLOG.  I hope you enjoy stopping by, and want to inspire you in some way.  So, I have MORE CANDY TO GIVE AWAY to continue to show how much I appreciate my visitors.

First, the winner of the build-a-brads and ribbon goes to:

#188 Kim states“WOW!! Congrats on all of the hits. What great blog candy!! What a cute card too! I have a card that I made last week that I can’t wait to getting around to post!”   Please email me your address and I will get these goodies out to you.

Second, MORE BLOG CANDY:)  Again, leave a comment and I will draw a winner on Saturday Sunday am (at some point).  This is a Stampin’ Up! Retired Hostess set with an appropriate name of “Cause for Celebration”.

Third, a couple days ago I mentioned that I was going to make a card for my Mom.  I opted not to go with the butterflies because it was just too whimsy for the kind of card I wanted to give her.  I tried the “striped wipe technique” ~~you can view a tutorial at splitcoaststampers.

I also decorated the inside of the envelope to coordinate with the card front.  The faux-stitching to a piece of chocolate chip cardstock was placed to match the ribbon on the card front…..love it!!!

I will be back tomorrow morning with my sketch posts and a really cool project:)  Again, I appreciate all the comments.  I read them all.  {{{hugs}}}  Good luck on “Phase 2” giveaway.

An announcement to share September 15, 2008

First, I have to start by saying I LOVE YOU MOM!!!

I despise September 15th. One of the worst days of my life actually. It was 23 years ago today that I lost my one and only sibling to cancer. My brother was only 11 years old, and I was 10. As the years pass, I get more emotional on this day. A Mother’s worst nightmare. As a child, I watched my mom try to cope and be strong. I pray for good health, as I know I wouldn’t be able to cope!!!! I HUG MY KIDS TIGHT ALL THE TIME. They are my life!

To distract me on this day, how about focusing on a big achievement. Now I can share with you a secret that I’ve had to keep for some time. I’m now a member of the “DIRTY DOZEN” over at splitcoaststampers.   Still hard for me to believe.  I’m so thankful for all the inspiration & friendships I have discovered because of scs.

Even more exciting, a fellow artisan award winner is also being welcomed to the dirty dozen with me….the wonderful Jennifer Buck.  The very first time we met and exchanged words was here in this pic below

It was at this past Stampin’ Up! Convention on stage.  I’m so blessed to have met Jen.  She is an amazing person and stamper.

I must get some sleep lol.  I just walked in the door from working all night and have to get at least 3 hours before my Ethan is ready to take on the day:)  Then, I will be making a card for my Mom.  She loves butterflies, so I have some ideas running through my head.

Go hug your kids tight:)

Beate’s weekend sketch challenge #57 September 12, 2008

I’ll confess that I’ve lost some of that creative mojo.  It has been drained from me over the last 3 weeks and now I’m trying to get it back.  Lots of stamping and creating that I can’t share with you yet.  But, stay tuned!

Fridays are so much more enjoyable lately since I gave up working night shifts on this day.  Family, evening high school football games, and just lounging around seem to be my plans for this day lately.

Another reason to enjoy Friday…..Beate’s wsc.  Ah yes!  I love Beate’s sketches.  Here is what I came up with:

I’v had these stamp sets, Bella Blossoms & Bella Toile Background, for over a month now and thought they’d be perfect for the sketch.  I shy away from flowers, but that’s a challenge due to all of the new flower stamp sets (especially love the silhouettes).  And, I hardly ever go “vintage” lol.  I combined, changed, added, played with the new Big Shot, and this is what I came up with.

The upper top big flower was stamped a couple times and cut out for sponging/shadowing, layering, adding dimensionals.  It does pop off of the card front.

You can see more samples for Beate’s wsc, check out what these talented ladies came up with:

Cambria Turnbow, Charmaine Ikach, Jenn Balcer, Laurie Schmidlin, Lori Craig, and Sharon Harnist.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND AND BIG THANKS FOR STOPPING BY.   WILL BE BACK ON MONDAY WITH A BLOG POST:)

WANTED…..Speedy Recovery September 6, 2008

I was chatting with my hubby this am while we were driving by a horse farm for sale and telling him how much that would be a dream come true to have.  First off, I’m a city girl born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA who’s father worked in a steel mill.  I think this is why I want the provide my kids with a “country life”.  My husband grew up here in Harrisburg, PA and grew up owning & riding horses.  I went on further to tell him that the daughter of a friend of mine just broke her arm during a riding lesson.  He said, “Did you send her a card?”  DUHHHH!  I didn’t even think of that.  So, we came home and I got started immediately and already delivered it to their home with some candy for her to enjoy during her recovery.

Since this young girl loves horses, I thought I would make a pink card with my Wanted stamp set.

I really like how this card turned out.  I didn’t have a “speedy recovery” stamp to coordinate with the theme of my card, so I made it with my Write Me a Memory Journaling Fonts CD, VOl. II (gotta love that).  The inside cardstock is stamped with “wanted” and I wrote my get well wishes on it.    I created my own background paper with Pink Pirouette cardstock and stamped images from the set.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.  It won’t stop raining where I’m at :c  I wanted to squeeze in one more visit to Hershey Park….maybe next weekend.

Harrisburg Area/Central PA stamping classroom is on its way:) September 5, 2008

It has been a busy exciting week here at my home….and over at Taylored Expressions.  Make sure you hop on over for her challenge and to see what I’m talking about.  You don’t have to use cupcake images to participate.

I know, it’s a busy one lol.  But when I think of Halloween, I think of tons of goodies….candy to last a couple months.  So, my candy kinda flows across the card.  I applied Iridescent Ice Stampin’ Emboss Powder to all of the larger candy cutouts.  The upper sentiment is a rub-on and is attached to the ribbon by a mini paper clip from Clips Assortment.

Now, about the post title.  I am so excited to announce to all of the locals (and those from afar that want to travel a little), my “classroom” is almost complete.  I have been begging for a stamping studio for YEARS NOW.  This will be a 14′ x 40′ area that I have designed personally.  There is a full bath (okay, probably no need for the shower but ink and glitter can get crazy at times).  There is a sitting area.  I am dedicating a whole wall to samples where I will display all of the cards I have received from all of my stamping friends:) and all of the cards I make.  There will be a networking station with a computer, epson photo printer for scrapbooking and good quality printing that may need done, video tutorials, and much more.   For those who know me, my work area is very CLEAN AND ORGANIZED.  Once I am done with the business boot camp, you will be able to view upcoming classes on my Stampin’ Up! Website.  I look forward to starting classes and educating on the art of stamping.

Check out what the rest of the cupcake crew has made:

Stephanie Hargis, Jami Sibley, Monika Davis, Lynn Mercurio, Sherrie Siemens, and Ana Wohlfahrt.

This weeks featured cupcake sampler is Sankari.

My recent favorite color combo

I have been using these colors together quite often.  I am using it again for Beate’s wsc #56.  I couldn’t resist!   Love them (riding hood red, kiwi kiss, pink pirouette, and chocolate chip).

I flipped todays sketch because it just wasn’t working for me.   When I made it the way the sketch shows to, I discovered that my strip of cardstock and ribbon was just too close to the center….if you tilt your head towards your right shoulder and look at my sample, you’ll see what I mean LOL.

Another reason why I wanted to use this color combination again was so it would coordinate with these mini “hi” cards I made to send to my customers.

Very simple except if you add the “hi” to the inside of the card.  I had to because it coordinates perfectly with the hi on the card front.

Make sure you check out what the rest of the crew has made for today.  They are truly inspiring:

Cambria Turnbow, Charmaine Ikach, Jenn Balcer, Laurie Schmidlin, Lori Craig, and Sharon Harnist.

Will be back in a little bit with another creation to share.
