Beate’s weekend sketch challenge #93 August 14, 2009

I think it’s about time I get back into my normal stamping routine.  Since before convention, I hadn’t stamped for close to two months…gasp!  I’m thrilled that I’ve spent every day stamping since I returned home from convention:)

I fell in love with todays sketch.  So in love that I made 3 cards.  I’m sure you will be hooked on Beate’s sketch as well.  You can see the sketch HERE.  Thanks Beate!

Don’t forget about Stampin’ Up!’s current campaign.  Purchase $35 from the “Growing Up” section of the 09-10 Catalog, and get a package of FREE BUTTONS!  Each card below features  a Designer Button (Playground, Sherbet, and Button Latte).  Click HERE to see all of August’s Specials.

The first card is for my daughter who is going to her friends 15th birthday party tomorrow.  Bright &  fun for any teen girl.

The second card is for my cousin who is having a baby shower in the beginning of September (baby boy on the way).  I wasn’t asked to make anything as far as invites and announcements.  I received a store-bought invite and I about gasped!  I think I need to give my family back in Pittsburgh a call and re-explain what I could have done for them lol!

Nursery Necessities is definitely one of my favorite available baby sets (is in the “Growing Up” section).  I have done so much with this set.  I will be sad when it retires.

Created the waves with my Slit Punch and covered with Crystal Effects.  The button featured in this sample is from Sherbet Designer Buttons.   I did continue the wave theme on the inside of the card with the stamped sentiment “it’s a boy” from this set (the pic just didn’t turn out nice, so I’m opting not to post that).

The third card is for a wonderful stamping friend.  She just simply amazing.  I used the same sentiment on this one from Nursery Necessities with the super cute Animal Crackers set.  Both of these sets are in the “Growing Up” section.

I know!  Stinkin’ cute!  I have had this set for months and just introduced it to ink last night.  But I forgot to add the button from Button Latte Designer Buttons lol.  So, it is in the upclose pic below.

I apologize for all of the shadowing.  It was late and I was way too tired to try and get the pic just right.  Gotta love those Corduroy Buttons and Canvas Cuts.  These are my current favorite accessories.  The rose image from Fifth Avenue Floral was stamped with Stazon onto Watercolor Paper (another must have).

Check out what Beate, Charmaine, Jenn, Laurie, Lori, Sharon

Cami have created for todays sketch.  Cami from OCL is also releasing summer stamps today.  Here is a sample.  My family and I enjoy cooking out & swimming in the pool almost daily during the summer.  When you have a pool, friends and family show up (frequently at times), so it seemed appropriate for me to play around with this new set Bring on the BBQ.

Weekend sketch challenge #78 April 25, 2009

I apologize for being late with my post.  Sharon Harnist is hosting the sketch this week.  Head on over to her blog to see the sketch she came up with.

I hardly EVER use purple.  When I was at work last weekend, a scrub top caught my eye.  It was purple, green, and brown.  I wrote the colors on a little piece of scrap paper and tucked it into my back pocket.

Check out what Beate,  Cambria, Charmaine, Jenn, Laurie,  Lori and Sharon came up with as well with the sketch.

I will be missing in action for the next couple weeks.  That means probably NO blog posting.  Stampin’ Up! Convention is in August this year and I will be making some of the display samples for the event and the Art From the Heart 2009 CD.  That’s all I can say!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.

Weekend Sketch Challenge #75 April 3, 2009

Yikes!  Today is my turn to host the sketch.  I hope you like it.  Here is what I came up with for you to try:

If you are uploading your sample to splitcoast, please put WSC75 (no spaces between WSC and 75..all one word) in the keyword section.    Post a link to your card, no matter where it’s hosted online, to this blog entry using Mr. Linky at bottom of this post.

Check out Beate Johns, Cambria Turnbow, Charmaine Ikach, Jenn Balcer, Laurie Schmidlin, Lori Craig, and Sharon Harnist to see more samples.

I will use on Tuesday, April 7th to pick a winner.  Because I’m approaching 600,000 and hosting, how about a nice little prize for the lucky sketch challenge winner?  I have some Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-Bration items….pack of Delicate Dots 12×12 Designer Series Paper and the Ribbon Bundle (10yds of So Saffron Grosgrain & 10 yds of Certainly Celery Poly-Twill).

Now get to creating!!!  Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Beate’s weekend sketch challenge #49 May 23, 2008

Happy Friday everyone!  First post of this morning will be Beate’s wsc.  With Stampin’ Up! having a chipboard special, I thought it would be appropriate to showcase a chipboard card.

How fun!  Great bright card for any upcoming graduation party.  This will be my intention with this sample.

I used 3 different chipboard assortments on this card:  On Board Ginormous Pieces, Blossoms & Basics, and Lots of Letters.  There are many adhesives to choose from for adhering your paper to chipboard.  I have found that a glue stick is the fastest method.  I use a sanding block for larger areas, and then I fold up sand paper into a tiny roll for all the detailed/hard to get to areas.

How about all the glitter?  I used Mini Glue Dots to the scalloped punch piece of Wild Wasabi CS and applied Celery Fine Cosmo Stampin’ Glitter.  I also wanted to continue to glitter theme (but not to take over the whole look of the card), so I added Sticky Strip to the Wild Wasabi CS matted base and added the glitter here as well.  The Sticky Strip is 1/4″ wide and that was a little too much for me.  I covered a portion of the glittered Sticky Strip with my DSP to get just the right amount showing.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful holiday weekend.

STAMPS:  SU! It’s All Good

CARDSTOCK:  Whisper White, More Mustard, Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi Textured CS, East Coast Prep DSP.

INKS:  Real Red and More Mustard.  Tempting Turquoise Craft.

ACCESSORIES:  Earth Elements Brads; Jersey Ribbon Originals; Mini Glue Dots and Sticky Strip; Sanding Block and paper; Fine Cosmo Stampin’ Glitter; On Board Ginormous Pieces, Blossoms & Basics, and Lots of Letters; Scallop Punch; 1/4″, 3/4″, 1-1/4″, and 1-3/8″ Circle Punches.

Beate’s weekend sketch challenge #42 PART 1 April 4, 2008

Friday brings another one of Beate’s wsc.   This weeks sketch was very challenging for me.  I played, turned, restarted, and finally came up with a card that I am really pleased with.

beate wsc #42 sample  I’m not one who gossips, but I love the sentiment with this card.  And how spring-ish.  Makes me want to go outside and start prepping the flowerbeds and my very small garden.

I created this card using MFT new release set “Can Ya Dig It?” .   Last night I was telling my hubby that I have to go shopping this weekend for new updated patterned paper (picture the slight head shake and blank look in his eyes…lol).  And then I remembered MFT digital paper packs that I downloaded, printed, and put to work.

Couple things going on with that wheelbarrow:  I stamped the image on Shimmery White CS, watercolored in with Chocolate Chip and Close to Cocoa ink, applied Ranger Crackle Accents, let dry, cut out, used Pewter Jumbo Eyelet for wheel and Pewter wire for back leg stand and seed packet post.  I stamped 3 pots, cut out, and adhered to the back of the wheelbarrow.  I stamped the little seedling plants in the appropriate places.  Attached wheelbarrow to Shimmery White CS using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

 beate wsc #42 upclose

Here is a card I made with the same set to show more images:

mft can ya dig it sample  For this sample, I used Memory Box Inspire Collection for the background.  I purchased “flat” toothpicks to use for my seed packets.  I added some Cowboy Dew Drops for balance.  Added Crystal Effects to the pumpkin, carrot, peas, and flowers on the hat.  I just love how I have her holding the bunny (which is a gardeners nightmare…lol)

Beate’s weekend sketch challenge #41 March 28, 2008

First, I must say thanks for all of your comments over the past two days.  I read every comment and think I have replied to all of them:)  Such a supportive group of people visiting me.

Second, I am so glad it is Friday.  I don’t have to work this weekend so I am really excited to be home.  I’m getting the urge to do some spring cleaning and have a list compiled for hubby to help out some.  I’m sure we will probably decide to postpone the tasks and just have some family fun.   Hershey Park opens to Season Pass holders and I would really love to take the kids.  Or, should I just stamp.  See, told ya I’m so excited to be home.

I love this weekends sketch.  You can check out the details on Beate’s blog if you would like to participate.

beate wsc #41  Ignore that eraser mark to the left of the image (oops moments do happen).

I had the honor of meeting Emily Block (Presidentabella) of Stamping Bella while at CHA this past February.  She is an amazing woman.  So is Nicky.  I think I could have carried on a conversation with them forever.  Truly amazing!…and so are the images.   When I saw the above image, new friends ella and looloo, I had to have it.   And, such the perfect sentiment for the set, need a hug?  This is a card I will stash away and give to my daughter when she needs a little “pick me up”.

The card base is Going Gray CS 4-1/4″ square.  The patterned paper is SU! Bali Breeze DSP.  The lock charm I can’t remember which craft store I purchased it at…I have had it for some time.  I used Vintage Brads to coordinate with the lock.  I added Cotton Candy Stickles to the crowns, dress sleeves, and necklace on ella.  Ribbon used is Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon.
