Weekend Sketch Challenge #75 April 3, 2009

Happy Friday to you.  Here is my sample for todays wsc.

When I first saw this Stampin’ Up! set, Hoppy for You, I had to have it.  I think that frog is too cute.  And the sentiments are funny.  The cardbase is Textured Baja Breeze with a strip of Kraft that I used my SU! Backgrounds I texturz plate to.  I used Linen Thread to create his hopping trail.  Added some Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon and a Corduroy Button to tie it all together.

Beate Johns, Cambria Turnbow, Charmaine Ikach, Jenn Balcer, Laurie Schmidlin, Lori Craig, and Sharon Harnist.  They always have amazing creations.

Stampin’ Up! Pop-Up Class Part II April 1, 2009

Seriously, you NEED these dies.  I’m addicted.  You will be too!  Today is release day for  Pop-up Sizzix dies from Stampin’ Up! (3-D Ball & Three Tier Cake Pop-up Bigz XL dies)

Are you ready?  Do you have a “Knight in shining armor”?  A son who loves playing and pretending with his toys?  A daughter who’s a princess having a princess birthday party?  I can go on and on with all the possibilities.  I encourage you to think outside the box and go beyond just a Three Tier cake……

I love this!  My Ethan sat next to me the whole time while I made this.  He was so excited that I was making a castle.

*You will need the following:  Big Shot Die Cut Machine (113439), Extended Cutting Pads (113478), and Three Tier Cake Pop-Up Bigz XL die (116760)

You can shop for these items HERE

*3-D Ball Pop-Up Bigz XL die is also a must have (116759).  The die cuts out and creates score lines for you.  You also get step-by-step instructions (pictures and text) with the die which makes creating a breeze.

What about Easter?  It is only a few weeks away.  Bring a smile to someone’s face by surprising them with this following pop-up card:

A cute little bunny popping out of a woven Easter basket.  Again, I used the Three Tier Cake die to create this card.

I wish there were more hours in the day so I could get to emails and such.

Here are some answers to questions:

I just can’t give step-by-step how to’s on some posts.  It would take me way too long.   I kind of create, post, and get right back to my family and things that need done around our home.

I’m not offering a mail class.  You can order these dies which you can/will use over and over again:)

I’m not a genius lol.  You guys are way too cool with your comments!  I’m flattered and blushing.

Someone asked if I’ve always been creative.  The answer is yes!  It’s rather a long story, but I started drawing way before Kindergarten (4 years old to be exact).  My brother was diagnosed with Cancer.  My parents were caring for him with frequent trips to appointments and hospitals.  Now that I’m older, I know that this was my way of coping with the situation.  And, even today, stamping and creating is very therapeutic.  I actually won my first drawing/art award in First Grade from Westinghouse.

Thanks for stopping by.  I will be back Friday morning as it will be my turn to host the wsc.

Hello Spring! March 29, 2009

Let me set the scene:  Spring day, slight breeze, local historic park (Fort Hunter) along the Susquehanna River, playground, walking trails, picnic basket in one hand, and Ethan holding my other hand.    Just need the rain to stop!

I sketched out the shape of a strawberry onto grid paper, cut out, traced the outline of the shape onto Riding hood Red cardstock, covered with Clear Embossing Powder and set with heat tool, punched out Basic Black cardstock circles using my Crop-a-Dile tool, attached to strawberry with Mini Glue Dots, covered black circles with Crystal Effects.  I wanted a subtle woven basket cardbase resembling the whole picnic theme.

Again, I sketched on grid paper how I wanted the stem and leaves to look, cut out, traced the outline of the shapes onto Textured Old Olive and Kiwi Kiss cardstock, sponged and distressed edges, adhered to the top of my strawberry.  That is one big yummy strawberry!!!

To create my tag/sentiment, I used Stampin’ Up! stamp sets ABC Alphabet Lower and Many Happy Returns (good times wording) onto Whisper White pieces of cardstock.  To create the details to the left of the tag: I used my 3/4″ Circle Punch to the Whisper White piece, my 1/2″ Circle Punch to Textured Riding Hood Red, added a black Mini Library Clip, Linen Thread with a few Green Bead Duo beads.  Finished off with a piece of 5/8″ Striped Riding Hood Red Grosgrain Ribbon.

Below is a picture of where I’m referring to.  It’s just a pretty view, and so close to home.

Thanks for stopping by.  Again, Happy Spring!

Beate’s weekend sketch challenge #74 March 27, 2009

I’m so tardy with my post for today.  I apologize.  It’s been one of those Fridays.  Today, we registered the last Albright kiddo for Kindergarten!  A rather bitter sweet event to say the least.  I’m excited for the milestone, but saddened to see my baby as a handsome boy entering school.  He was so well behaved with perfect manners (boy, does he have them fooled lol).  Also, today was “Dentist Checkup Day”.  All went well and I’m free of cavities (hard to believe with all the candy in my posts lately).  Why is it that the tongue will keep rubbing up against/feeling the back of the bottom teeth after a cleaning?  For about 3-4 days, I will keep doing this lol.   Do you do this as well?  Funny!

Friday also brings us another weekend sketch challenge.  Charmaine Ikach is hosting this weeks wsc.  Hop on over to her blog, Oodabug Alley, to see the sketch challenge.

Stampin’ Up! has an oh so adorable new set titled Animal Crackers.  Definitely my style.  I finally introduced it to ink, and had it waiting for Ethan this morning to get him excited about visiting school.

You can see more samples for this weeks wsc.  Just hop on over to the sites of these super talented ladies:  Beate Johns, Cambria Turnbow, Jenn Balcer, Laurie Schmidlin, Lori Craig, and Sharon Harnist.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.
