A Merry Masking Maniac?? October 1, 2007

Well, let’s just say that I won’t be mass producing this card to send out for the holidays.  Another card that requires patience…but I wanted to see the end result and couldn’t turn back once I started.

I had to combine the moose from Moose You stamp set & lights from Simple Snowman stamp set to create my main image.  DIFFICULT LEVEL OF 5.

For the lights, they were colored with Real Red & Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers (some left white/clear).  I got out the good ol’ Stampin’ Pastels to add a glow around the light bulbs.  Finished them off with Crystal Effects.  It looks so cool.

Card base size is 4-5/8″ x 8-3/4″ Real Red CS folded in half.  Layers of paper on top are 4-1/8″ x 4-3/8″ Chocolate Chip CS & 4″ x 4-1/4″ Dashing DSP.   Added a strip of Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon and tied in a bow.

Image piece is 2-1/4″ x 2-5/8″ Shimmery White CS; 2-3/8″ x 2-3/4″ Real Red CS; 2-1/2″ x 2-7/8″ Old Olive CS; 2-5/8″ x 3″ Chocolate Chip CS.  Used Ticket Punch to bottom right corner of image piece.  Added a Fire Rhinestone Brad to this area.

Sentiment piece is 1-3/8″ Circle Punch of Shimmery White CS; Scallop Punched a piece of Old Olive CS and paper-pierced holes.  Real Red CS Circle created with Coluzzle Cutting System

Here are the masking step pics:

Gosh, I don’t even know where to begin on trying to explain how I did this.  I had to use my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and Window Sheet a lot.  Have to do a lot of pre-planning.  I had to know exactly where the moose was located and which parts of the light strand would be omitted.  All the lights in the pic are yellow because I had to patiently cut out image on post-it note and apply to the whole strand of lights…ughhh!!!

After stamping the moose image, I removed the little post-it note light cut-outs and colored.

TFL.

Have a great Monday.

This is super cute. And I was wondering after you last Christmas card with “Season of Joy”, what you would be doing for mass produced cards. I love the way you combined the two stamp sets, I really like that string of lights on the moose. Thanks for sharing! =)
