Beate’s weekend sketch challenge #70 February 27, 2009

Happy Friday!  You are going to notice somethin’ different in regards to Beate’s wsc.  We (Beate’s sketch challenge team) will be rotating Fridays, hosting sketches, for a while.

Up this week, for wsc #70, is Lori Craig.  She came up with an awesome sketch for us, and you, to try this weekend.  Here is what I came up with:

mja-blog-feb-27-1

Can I just say…..I LOVE THIS CARD!!!   I also love the new SU! Friends 24-7 stamp set and Friendly Words Jumbo Wheel (a must have filled with tons of little sentiments).

Here is an upclose.  I can sit all day and cut out images.  It doesn’t bother me to grab my paper snips and start cutting away images…I find it rather therapeutic while listening to the tv in the background:)

Birthday card for Mom February 24, 2009

My Moms birthday is March 6th.  She is a BUTTERFLY LOVER.  So, naturally, I try give her cards with butterflies on them.

I always cave in and make the last minute magazine purchase while standing at the grocery store check out.  I try to keep my back turned to the candy (Ethan does his share of trying to grab every candy bar displayed).

I have no weddings coming up, but I had to purchase  Martha Stewarts 2009 Winter Wedding Magazine because of the cover.  This is where I found my inspiration for my Moms card.

Every butterfly was stamped, cut out, heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder, and attached to the card with Mini Glue Dots so I could pinch up the wings.  It had to be a rather large card base (6″ square) so I could get all of the butterflies to fit.

Hopefully she doesn’t stop by and take a sneak peek at her card!  I do thank you for stopping by though:)  Have a wonderful day!

Prehistoric Birthday Wishes February 22, 2009

My Ethan has two birthday parties to attend the first weekend in March.  I’m ahead of the game for once!  They are both getting the same card lol.  I don’t think the two 4-year-old boys will mind.   I stamped and assembled the outside and Ethan did the inside of the cards.

I took the same colors and layout from fridays post, except added a circular main focal point using my Circle Scissor Plus.

blog-feb-20-2

I used SU! Prehistoric Pals Stamp Set for the cards.  The card base is a 4-1/4″ square piece of Pacific Point CS with a 1″ x 3-3/4″ Tangerine Tango Patterns DSP strip to the left side.  Added a piece of Riding Hood Red 7/8″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon tied in a knot.  The Whisper White CS piece is a 2-1/2″ circle layered on top of a 2-3/4″ Riding Hood Red CS circle.  Dino and tree top stamped in Kiwi Kiss ink.  Chocolate Chip ink for tree trunk.   I think the sentiment is perfect.  “Wish Big” lol….from SU! Short & Sweet Stamp Set

Again, I let Ethan decorate the inside of the cards.  He is so stinkin’ cute.  He used a Pumpkin Pie Marker for his writing (he just turned five so we are working on his penmanship…it states, “happy birthday connor”), used Chocolate Chip ink for his stamped hearts, and Riding Hood Red for stamped prehistoric pal.

Pocket Silhouettes February 21, 2009

I can’t believe all the stamping time I have this weekend.  I’m lovin’ it!  I have been stamping since Wednesday, for a couple hours daily, without a deadline attached to the projects…..and it feels good!  Isn’t that therapeutic?

I’m getting caught up on thank you & simply thinking of you greetings to send out.  Here is a little something for someone:)

blog-feb-20-1-1

I used SU! Pocket Silhouettes stamp set for this card.  It is a 4-1/4″ Riding Hood Red CS square card.  There is a 4″ Textured Riding Hood Red CS square with 3/16″ corner rounded corners layered to the card base.  The Horizontal strip is 2″ x 4-1/4″ Bella Rose DSP and edges are sponged with Chocolate Chip ink.  I used Scallop Edge Punch to Whisper White CS and added to the DSP.  The three brads are from Vintage Brads Assortment.  Attached to card base with Sticky Strip.

For the center focal point, I started with a 2-1/4″ x 2-3/4″ Whisper White CS and stamped the floral silhouette image in Riding Hood Red ink a couple times.  Stamped sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink.  Used 1-3/8″ Circle Punch to left side and adhered to a 2-1/2″ x 3″ piece of Chocolate Chip CS.  Using another coordinating piece of Bella Rose DSP, I punched a circle using my 1-1/4″ Circle Punch and adhered within punched out circle of Whisper White…cutting off the left side overhang.  Used 3/4″ Circle Punch to Textured Riding Hood Red CS, adhered, and cut off any overhang to the left.  Using Crop-a-Dile tool, punched hole and attached Jumbo Eyelet.  Punched another hole in card base.  Attached main image piece to card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Threaded Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon through eyelet and tied in knot.

Thanks for stopping by!

Say It with Scallops February 19, 2009

Tonight I am heading to my local Ronald McDonald House in Hershey, PA to provide some stamping for the guests staying in the home.  This is a new venture for me thanks to Stampin’ Up!  I hope that I can help a guest by providing therapeutic stamping…..to briefly distract them from any worry they may have.   Offering support by stamping!

Here are the projects I have prepared for this evening:

blog-mja-feb-19-1

I thought it would be very appropriate to use SU! Say It with Scallops stamp set exclusively designed for RMHC.  When you purchase this set, $2 is donated to RMHC.  I wanted the projects to be easy.  Throw in a Scallop Square Punch and it doesn’t get any easier!  You can view a tutorial for the box up front at scs

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your Thursday.

Beate’s weekend sketch challenge #68 February 13, 2009

Happy Friday (the 13th).

I’m so happy.  Did you see the title of this post?  I know!  We all missed one another….and Friday mornings just weren’t the same without Beate’s wsc.   Head on over to Beate’s site to see the sketch challenge.

Here is my sample for todays sketch:

wsc68-1

Appropriate for tomorrow’s loving holiday.  This one is going to my daughter Morgan.  She always displays the items I make for her proudly in her bedroom.

What I like the most about this card is the gatefold….has to be different to catch the attention of a teen.  Here is the inside of the card:

What have I been up to? February 9, 2009

I’m still here:)  I won’t bore you with every single reason as to why I haven’t posted in so long.  But, I do have some news to share.

All of my stamping & crafting goodies were in boxes for close to two weeks.  I officially moved into my stamping studio a couple days ago.  This project was never ending….due to not wanting to cut corners in any way (I wanted it done once and done right KWIM).  My face glows every time I walk into “my room”.

My friends and I are meeting for dinner this Thursday.  We just started meeting to celebrate our birthdays.  We are also planning our Sale-a-bration STAMP CAMP FOR MARCH 28.   If you live in Harrisburg (or local surrounding areas), we would love to have you join us……………

But, if you want information, you have to call me.  Or, email me your phone number with a convenient time that I should call you and I’ll get back to you.   Sorry for this request.  Kind of a live and learn story that I’ll share some day.

Also, today is my Anniversary.  Ahhhhh!  My parents are coming over again to babysit so John and I can have a nice dinner alone.   We will be heading to Hershey Lodge for dinner.  I just love that place.  We had our reception in the “Chocolate Ballroom” there.  I may try a Chocolate Martini and a yummy chocolate dessert for sure:)

         blog-post-2-9-2          blog-post-2-9-1

These are 6×6 pages.  The one on the left is of me and my step-son Michael.  He is now 15 years old and is taller than me lol.  He’s a good kid.  The page on the right is of me and my man.  Both pages were created with SU! Ever After Stamp Set.

Now, about the PDF I mentioned here (two posts down)….I have received so many requests.  Here’s the deal.  I had to have it tweaked.  I added more pics and pages.  It is a 31 page file with over 70 pics.  It walks you through the creating process step-by-step.  I have sent it out to my customers, tweaked, and now I’m ready to share a great deal with you.  If you are interested in the PDF, it only costs $10.

IF YOU PURCHASE THE PDF, YOU WILL BE ENTERED INTO A DRAWING TO WIN ALL OF THE PROJECTS FEATURED IN THE PDF.  I WILL PICK A PERSON ON SUNDAY, FEB. 15TH.

I thought this wasn’t going to be a long post lol.

Finally, this card I made here……won The SoShelli Creative Challenge this past weekend:)  How cool.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful week.

I will be back on FRIDAY *wink*
